I am using for years both HW and TAS info boxes side by side so I can do the
math. I find it always to be far more accurate and instantaneous than the
calculated vector wind. Knowing if your GS is faster or slower than your TAS is
the best info you can have to estimate your expected glide performance over
terrain. But having to do the math mentally is silly. It doesn't matter if it
is mathematically correct to call it component wind, the info is what matters.
