I had the same message on ground a few times on hot days (closed
canopy, no cover), but never during a flight.

My guess is: the Streak is just clever enough to detect this situation
and attempts to protect the battery.  iPaqs just don't have a
temperature sensor and thus you'll never get such a warning from
them.  That's not a sign of robustness, but blindness.
