Made no difference.
The reach outline doesn't appear until I get up to around 13,000 ft MSL
(7,000 ft AGL). With the glide path display showing a very large
altitude above glide path, the displayed airport is still not green.
Once the reach display encompasses the airport, it will change to green.
I'm now using the included polar for my glider, running a Dell Streak 5
with Froyo, and XCSoar beta2. This behavior is the same as it's been
with all revisions for the past year.
A terrific program and I love it, but these features are useless to me
until I can figure out how to configure the system to work or else
disable the reach display and ignore the display of reachability.

Good advice, Guys!
Not the space shuttle, but not knowing where the LAK-17a polar which
comes with XCSoar came from, I manually entered my polar as taken
directly from the flight manual. I'll try the native polar and see if
there's a difference.
I'll also check that I have only one terrain file, AND
I'll compare HGPS and AGL on my next flight with my other instruments
and knowledge of the terrain.
Thanks.

Few thoughts on this:
I recall some users had similar issues due to missing the terrain
file, or due to unziping the terrain file. I recall in some browsers
the terrain file was downloaded as zip instead of xcm, resulting in
users unzipping it. I just tried it with Firefox and IE8 and it seem
to download fine now, but make sure you are using just a single xcm
file for your terrain data.
As for the issue Morgan described when restarting mid flight , this
can indeed mess up your final glide calculation badly if you start it
mid flight, but I think this only happens if you don't have a home
airport defined? I am not sure, haven't tried it myself. Best is to
always have a home airport defined, either in the waypoint file as
Morgan described, or by selecting your home airport in your waypoint
file, click details, then click the arrow to go to the next screen
from which you can set it as home airport, add to task etc.

Dan, sounds like you might have the Space Shuttle polar selected.
I haven't experienced any of these issues on 6.3 with a Dell
Streak. If I recall correctly in the Cambridge waypoint format
the home airfield has an H in the column that specifies the
waypoint type.
One interesting thing I noticed on a recent flight was that when
I didn't select a waypoint, the default was to return me to
"takeoff." In one case, I launched in Simulator mode and noticed
this on tow. Thankfully, flying a Duo I was able to hand
control over to the back seater and restart in FLY mode. It
immediately recorded Takeoff. Later in the day on final glide I
was loosing ground on my arrival height, but clearly was going to
make it and be quite high. As my arrival went negative I
realized that the default behavior was to "takeoff" which had
been 1500agl or so.
I would also recommend adding an info box for GPS height and AGL
Height to some screen and then double check those on your next
flight to make sure they are generally in agreement with your
altimeter and actual AGL height. Just in case you've got bad map
data. Seems like that could exhibit the behavior that you've
reported.

Hi Dan, I've had a few of these myself, for example on one
flight my reach area was stuck 100km behind me, other times
my GPS position would jump many KM away even though I was on
the ground. I was using XCSoar on Android connected to
Internal GPS, CAI302 and Powerflarm via IOIO. Once I
disabled the internal GPS all these disappeared.

I'm using 6.4_beta but these anomalies have been with me

I do not see the reach outline until getting above about

I get the message "Final glide through terrain"
periodically, even when
directly over the airport at 10,000 ft AGL.
How do I select my home field without searching through
all the airports?
Any help would be appreciated.
