Not sure of the intent of this subject, but I have spent too much radio time listening to pilots on long tasks trying to pass on their location. Particularly Corowa visitors probably 300 km NW of Corowa. Radio chatter takes many minutes in several languages.
My suggestion is for an XCSoar data box giving bearing and distance from a selectable waypoint [that is not necessarily the task's next turnpoint. viz., Condo 240/36km [from Condoblin]. Then they could agree the reference from time to time and then radio their position in the above simple terms from that point. This function looks similar to 'alternate 1' but I have not figured out the specifics yet. Or it may be in Team modes? If there is this functionality in XCSoar somewhere, my apologies but I have not found it. Keep up the good work.
