I find those features very helpful in any kind of flight, from re-centering
thermals to staying in wave to retracing convergence lines on the way back. But
unfortunately XCSoar starts trimming the trail points after few hours,
apparently to save memory, although this does not seem to be necessary in
modern devices. As a results the trace looses details which makes it harder to
relocate the lift. I opened ticket http://bugs.xcsoar.org/ticket/1931 for it.

following:  Set "Full Trails" in your setup and you will be
able to see where the lift is best.  I use this to navigate
back to small waves in New Mexico, USA, and it works very
well.  I would think it would be better than markers because
you can see your entire path as you turn back for another
path in the wave, you can see where the best lift is, and
you can explore without fear of losing the lift.

first maintenance version for the 6.4 branch. I’ve used 6.4 myself on
two competitions last month and I was very happy with it. There were
however a few minor things that were bugging me, so we’ve fixed them: * “Final
GR” infobox is fixed
* Flarm Team Colors are properly saved in the profile
* Flarm targets are shown properly in the Map Item List
* A few device drivers have been fixed
* Bluetooth support for Windows CE is fixed/improved
* Airspace arc resolution is improved (more on that later!) You can read about
the rest of the fixes in our change log:

https://market.android.com/details?id=org.xcsoar The next maintenance release
will be 6.4.2, to be released on demand.
The next major release will be 6.5, around the end of the year.
