We, including myself, often recommend the Dell Streak as the best platform for
XCSoar. While it has indeed an excellent sunlight readable display, it has poor
GPS. I received multiple feedback from people I recommended to purchase the
Dell Streak that it takes very long time to acquire the GPS signal, and
occasionally the GPS stops working for hours. In at least one case someone
bought a new unit believing he had a faulty unit. Those of us who use it with
external GPS source may not be aware of it, but some want to use it stand
alone, and as such this may not be their best option. I suggest we mention
this issue whenever we recommend it.
