I have provided some club members with modified Kobo mini, Kobo Touch and Kobo
Glo devices over past few month. These are Ebook Readers with added GPS which
have become quite popular here.
These club mates are quite happy with them and they use them cockpit mounted or
kneeboard style. One has even integrated it ih his panel. They are probably the
best in sunlight readability run long enough on internal battery for the
occasional 5 to 6 hr flight, and if required can be powered from an external
USB battery pack for longer flights. Connection to Flarm, logger, glide
computer or such is also possible, even if not relevant in the case your club
mate.
You’d need to do a bit or soldering, though, to put a GPS module in. (Connect 3
to 4 wires …)
