I've seen the same so switched the wind calculation to external. If you have external wind info such as 302 it may be a better choice. I found the 302 wind calculation more accurate and more current. That said, the most instantaneous and accurate wind calculation is the HW/TW component info box (don't have XCSoar in front of me so not sure how exactly it is called) but make sure to choose the simplified one if your vario provides TAS. This info box is crucial in final glide when you don't change heading enough to update the vector wind calculation which will show you the last calculated wind while the simplified (I believe this is how it is called - weird way to call it) HW/TW will continuously tell you your HW/TW vector. Where I fly the HW may change to TW or vice versa half the time so this is crucial info since unfortunately XCSoar only use the vector wind for glide calculation.
