From my perspective (someone outside the project, have been using XDoclet 1.2 for 6 months) it is lack of publicity of its status. People go to the front page of XDoclet on sourceforge and see that "XDoclet 2 development has just started and that it is still far from useable". People want something for their production systems and want stability so I guess that one line puts them off. Additionally they go to the SF download page and see xdoclet 1.2 (beta3). No mention of 2.0. If its usable and relatively stable (no radically changing API's etc) why not have a beta release of 2.0 and put it on SF downloads page ? It would be a push for people to start looking at it. You already have a doc saying what is new in 2.0 (though it says that it is a proposal only). What about having the online documentation for 2.0 somewhere on the site ? Change the site so that it has a front page, and you can go off to docs for 1.2 or 2.0 depending on your interest (with something saying what 1.2 is for and what 2.0 is for). Andrew mentioned that it will be up to plugin developers to write and maintain their own plugins for 2.0. From the Maven perspective there are enough people around who use the xdoclet plugin and who are experienced enough in writing Maven plugins who could easily get it updated to use 2.0 quick enough. For example, if we are maintaining the Maven plugin from 2.0 onwards (and it would be in plugin.jelly, plugin.properties format if that was the case), I would have it updated with those changes I want and get it released asap - the changes are not radical so within a day - and released on Maven within a week - it certainly isn't lack of will to contribute (not on my part anyway :-). The thing that would motivate people would be a beta release of 2.0 Hope that helps -- Andy ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ xdoclet-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/xdoclet-devel
