Mark, South Bridge on this board is Intel ICH8R (set up in BIOS to AHCI Mode). SNV76 mboot in MBR is master loader dual booting SNV and CentOS Solaris partitions are on the first SATA 160 GB drive Seagate Barracuda CentOS partitions are on the second SATA 160 GB drive Seagate Barracuda. Both drives are attached to South Bridge. SNV 76 uses it’s own AHCI driver , implemented in SNV 55/56, to access ZFS volume on the same drive. CentOS 5.0 obviously uses it’s own AHCI driver to access linux LVs on the second drive. Through my experience, generally , Linux 2.6.18 and higher AHCI drivers performs usually faster then SNV AHCI driver does.
