It appears that you've installed the DRI trunk. So have I. However,
[ctrl]+[alt]+[f2] and then [alt]+[f7] will bring back X for me. My guess
is that maybe you installed the dri from cvs over your 4.2.1
installation? In my case, I checked out xfree 4.2.99.902 from CVS, built
it ([uncomment #ifdef HasGcc2 from site.def] && make World && make
install) and then made and installed the dri trunk, and then built the
dri kernel modules and put them in
/lib/modules/2.4.XX/kernel/drivers/char/drm (or wherever they normally
go). Maybe this will work for you, too?
