is that maybe you installed the dri from cvs over your 4.2.1 installation?

no no, I used a Michel's package.

In my case, I checked out xfree 4.2.99.902 from CVS, built it ([uncomment #ifdef HasGcc2 from site.def] && make World && make install) and then made and installed the dri trunk, and then built the dri kernel modules and put them in /lib/modules/2.4.XX/kernel/drivers/char/drm (or wherever they normally go). Maybe this will work for you, too?

i installed dri-trunk from Michel's deb package, built the kernel module radeon.o from Michel's src package, (recompiled the kernel), and copied radeon.o to /lib/modules (I hate make install with no clear explanation what will be happening). i dont see any significant difference to what you did... or am I wrong?

thanks a lot
Dominik
