Besides Leyna and Xindice, what other Apache based projects
would be interested in Lexus and XUpdate

At ApacheCon 2003 I have been talking to Shane Curcuru and it seemed to me that
it would be best to get Lexus into the XML Commons subproject

http://xml.apache.org/commons/

I think Shane is currently the PMC chairman of the XML project.

Maybe you can talk to him once more.

How does everyone feel about running Lexus through the
incubator, rather than directly into XML Commons?

More to the point, will this give XUpdate time to learn about Apache, or will it be a set back for those projects that use Lexus like Xindice and Cocoon?

Keep in mind that there are those of us interested in developing
the Working Draft, in addition to the reference implementation.
(Not just looking to move a Java package to a new CVS repository.)

IMHO, If you plan that Lexus will attract many non-apache developers, then it makes sense to go through incubation. If it attracts apache committers only, then it can go directly to xml-commons, the only required thing will be a signed software grant.
