I finally succeeded in the build process and got the 1.1b jar and war files. After copying xindice.war to TOMCAT_HOME/webapps and restarting Tomcat, I tried to connect to xindice using commandline interface(xindice lc -c /db), then encounted the ->ERROR : Collection not found!
Please double check that your war file is called Xindice.war (with a capital X). The RPC interface expects to connecto to http://whatever/Xindice.
