Hi,

The ants are one of the most successful groups of insects ;) (from
wikipedia.org), but serious and from the right source (ant.apache.org):
"Apache Ant is a Java-based build tool. In theory, it is kind of like
Make, but without Make's wrinkles." - you'll find lots of documentation
there. You should use ant to build your xindice-installation.
As for the step-by-step guide: I haven't found one yet, but I could use
one, too.
