Hi Hans (and others)
Over the weekend....

I got better sound and better fps running with -notimer rather than -timer.
But it still didn't seem as good as previous versions, subjectively.
Turning sound off altogether did help somewhat

Mike

Thanks for the reply Hans

What is TSC on the Cyrix? Does it stand for/mean?

Re: The value card - are the ioctls on the drivers for the card?

I will check and email tonight....

But from memory I don't remember the OSS messages talk about it being buggy....
Will try with -timer.

Will let you know soon.
Thanks anyway.

Mike

Hmm, bad cpu and soundcard, that might be the problem:
-cyrix 6x86 mmx, TSC problems
-awe32 value, known to have some problems with the get_freespace ioctl's

Does the snapshot print any messages about OSS being buggy, and that it
is falling back to timer based audio?
Could you otherwise try running with -timer? To force timer based audio.

Regards,

Hans
