Other info I forgot from my earlier email, giving the results of this.
Running b16 snapshot 2, on Linux kernel 2.2.15pre9 and 2.2.14-15
and my AWE 64 value card.
I did *NOT* see any ("buggy") messages as the one below (posed as a question by
you) showed?
Does the snapshot print any messages about OSS being buggy, and that it
is falling back to timer based audio?

What is TSC on the Cyrix? Does it stand for/mean?
Re: The value card - are the ioctls on the drivers for the card?
I will check and email tonight....
But from memory I don't remember the OSS messages talk about it being buggy....
Will try with -timer.

Hmm, bad cpu and soundcard, that might be the problem:
-cyrix 6x86 mmx, TSC problems
-awe32 value, known to have some problems with the get_freespace ioctl's
Does the snapshot print any messages about OSS being buggy, and that it
is falling back to timer based audio?
Could you otherwise try running with -timer? To force timer based audio.
