Richard,
I have to question the level of professionalism in your comments when
you accuse VANs of "screwing" their customers. VAN's provide a valuable
service to their customers as the comments provided over the past two
weeks will attest. (See the thread: The need for speed: XML vs.
Internet EDI) VAN's are expanding and modifying their services to
continue to provide value to their customers. Your implication is that
VAN's are dinosaurs with brains the size of walnuts and on their way to
extinction. The truth is that the VAN's have smart people at them, who
understand the market, and are committed to incorporating new technology
(Internet access, Java, XML, etc.) into their services so that they
remain competitive and able to grow revenues. One of those dinosaurs
just might eat you up.
I also went to your website to investigate what you are offering. I
didn't go past your first webpage after being presented with an
advertisement that included a picture of a woman's navel and a pair of
jeans that were partially opened.

Dear Group,
Yes, Vans are dead but it does not mean that they can not maximize their
revenue (aka screw clients) until the clients learn how they are being
screwed.
Shortly, the idea of paying someone to translate the data formats will
be a quaint as using a horse and carriage. Using Java / Jini / E-speak
and others data interoperability will as easy and transparent as a phone
call.
Your personal / corporate software robot (bot) will facilitate all your
normal transactions in a timely and efficient manor. So, you can get on
with more important stuff such as grwoing your business.
