Job Postings is something that every listserve administrator has
to set a policy for. There is no posting policy for this listserve so I
see what Julie did was absolutely correct. She started the subject with
'JOB: '. Everyone understood what the posting was about and could decide
whether to read it or delete it.
For the Washington Area SGML/XML Users Group, I made a a decision
to provide job postings on-line because I think they are important for the
members and I wanted to insure low volume of messages. I have to admit it
is a burden and not everyone is as nice as me to do it for free |-). This
method has been a successful means for both our members to find jobs and
companies to get qualified individuals. Only people interested in
SGML/XML look at the posting.
I would suggest that job postings be allowed with the the word
'JOB' in the subject line. There are many reasons to allow them, but I
think it is a way of gauging the number of companies moving toward XML and
EDI, vis a vis success.
