Lisa, Work on this is indeed underway. The ebXML WG that I am chairing has a draft on assembly mechanisms that details exactly how this can be implemented in a formal way, and we've been doing prototyping on popular industry XML syntax transactions.
This draft should be public in a few weeks after the upcoming ebXML meeting in Geneva. The beauty of this approach is that it is syntax and vendor neutral, while using simple XML V1.0 technology and this makes it especially simple to implement. The design can work on any fix structured content so it works just as well for legacy EDI, as for modern XML structures. And also it is designed to be business-user friendly - since it does not require knowledge of complex XML syntax devices to use. As you note - the vision is to provide the means to utilize core components from an ebXML registry data dictionary - and be able to assemble transactions from a standard set of components. We are also hoping to integrate this assembly approach into the OAG/NIST ebXML testbed that is currently underway. I look forward to being able to share this draft with the list in a few weeks time. Thanks, DW. ========================================================= Message text written by "XMLEDI Group" > Is anyone aware of an XML data dictionary product? We have many transactions that we would like to create and we want to reuse the common elements. I'm hoping to find a product that will let me add elements to a large list and than pull them as I'm creating a Schema. Sorta like what we have for X12 standard segments and elements. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance for you time on this. < --- You are currently subscribed to xmledi-group as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
