Hi Hussein,

My RFE for a Cancel button was to cover what I see (and have seen since
3.6.2) as a deficiency in the product whereby there is no way to launch
a webstart session using the "-open" parameter and not force the user to
open a copy of a locked file that they will not be able to save. Between
the new Cancel button and the support for "-read" in 4.5.2, I no longer
see that as a problem. And thanks again, BTW :-)

But the OpenedDocumentTab request has more to do with what the user sees
and can do *after a file is opened*. Consider the user launching
webstart with the "-read" option. Perhaps the reason they get to "-read"
and not to "-open" is because they don't have rights to lock a file on
the server. When they stumble across this command on the tab and click
it (as they surely will), they'll get a nasty permissions warning.
Better for them not to see the command at all.

Plus, it seems inconsistent to me that the gui file lets you hide
virtually every command and menu in the interface, but something as
powerful as toggling Read Only (which amounts to toggling LOCK/UNLOCK on
a WebDAV server) cannot be hidden or disabled.

You're right that this latest request is related to the same general use
case as the previous two. But it's still a legitimate usability and
configurability issue, IMO.

Thanks for listening.

Mark

Sorry but we are not convinced that what you describe is a big problem.
Therefore we do not plan to implement this feature.

If you really want to have this feature in future version of XXE, then
please consider to sponsor its implementation. See

Remember that you already sent us a feature request directly related to
your above problem a couple of days ago and that we have implemented it.

It seems that you have now discovered that your first RFE was not
sufficient for your use case.

Given what happened, who tell us that in the future, you'll not find
that the above RFE, the *second* one related to the same problem, is not
also insufficient for your use case?
