I've actually been updating our packages to, like Fedora, deliver the
*proto.pc files in /usr/share/pkgconfig, since that saves the previous
duplication I was doing in the 32-bit & 64-bit lib subdirs for pkgconfig.

Of course, that's transparent to pkgconfig users since /usr/share/pkgconfig
is in the default PKGCONFIG_PATH, unlike ${PREFIX}/share/pkgconfig.
