I guess I can always add yet another EDID atom string check
to my display color profile management code, but is there a
reason to change it ?

(I use the EDID in an attempt to uniquely associate a display color profile
with a display monitor instance, so that it's possible for the profile
to follow the display even when it's plugged into a different output,
or different monitors are being used at different times.)
