You mean the "radeon" driver WORKS with tvout? Until today I was convinced it
doesn't.

I'm actually working on it (tvout support) and one of the things will also be
supported is what you want (selecting higher refresh rate for monitor if tv is
connected), but on r128 driver. radeon and mach64 will be supported later.
Just wait a couple of weeks/months and it will be there.
