Yes, when the X server worked on PPC without "UseFBDev" - which it doesn't right now - I did see the same effect, regardless of whether I specified "UseFBDev" or not. Also, is the fix that you came up with available as a patch against the 4.1.0.1 tree that Debian is using at present, so I can just build my own local X server package and use that until 4.2.0 is released, and packages for it make their way into Sid?
