I fixed the video RAM setting you mentioned in #2. I wasn't aware that 24 bit didn't do 3D, but I don't think that should be a problem - I just plan to display some GUI apps and a video window.... As far as the bus stuff goes, the computer is a compactPCI. Not sure if you're familiar with this, but basicallly its a different pinout for the PCI bus for ruggedized computers. They are electrically the same, but the sockets are different. The computer card plugs into a backplane, and then I have an adapter which also plugs into the backplane that allows me into insert normal PCI boards. I tried moving the adaptor between different spots on the backplane and also tried the brooktree board in the different slots in the adaptor with no change in bus adressing. Please see the attached "slot0" file - it lists the output from /proc/pci and the "pci" file (output from lspci -vvx). It doesn't seem that the brooktree and i815 ranges overlap (but they're close.....). If you would like some more info please let me know. The problems may be due to this specific computer that I am using. Thanks again for all the assistance...
