This msg dose not in any way have the understanding to get quake3 running on your pc.
A while back I got some instructions from Vladimir on how I could help with Radeon 8500 DRI code. At first my PC would just reboot, but after changing some BIOS Settings that has changed. I had my AGP Aperture size set to 512 MB, I have 756 Megs of ram so I thought that was in the ball park. Now that I have changed that setting to 128 MB. I don't really know what Vladimir meant by CCE, CP and indirect packets, but glxinfo reports Direct Rendering=Yes. If any one wants logs, I turned on ring debug and so fourth, drop me a line. --- Vladimir Dergachev <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Ok, I have not got a reply from my ATI contact yet, but in the meanwhile > there is stuff you can without actual docs. > > * get latest XFree86 CVS (4.1.99.5+) > * get ati.2 from GATOS CVS (no tags/branches) > * get drm-kernel from GATOS CVS (no tags/branches) > * compile/install all the above, preserve source trees. > * make a separate copy of ati.2 and drm-kernel trees for making > modifications and patches > * compile and install copies > * First thing to try: while 3d is quite different for 8500, the 2d > stuff remains the same.
