4.2.0 will support your chip natively w/o using vbdev, albiet only in
1280x1024. I have a Toshiba machine with the same chipset and screen
size. A 1400x1050 modeline needs to be compiled into the driver. I
plan to start messing around with that more seriously once 4.2.0
debian packages show up.
