right, thats what I thought...but was not too sure.....I also don't think
its supported.

ok...I thought they were somehow related as I was only able to get fbdev to
work if I pass the vga kernel parameter...without it, the modes were not
detected properly and I could not get X to work? I always thought that fbdev
works in conjuction with the kernel framebuffer...these things can get
really confusing!

I have an HP xh575 notebook: trident CyberBladeXP and 1400x1050 LCD....the
driver does not work on my machine (and others who have the same machine as
mine)...I've already taken that route with no luck :(... I tried the fbdev
and vesa drivers....vesa driver has a bug in it that does not allow non su
users to startx....fbdev is the only one that I can get working well, but
without 1400x1050 mode.
