right, thats what I thought...but was not too sure.....I also don't think its supported. > However, this question is *not at all* related to X11, so you better > ask in a *Linux* support group. > ok...I thought they were somehow related as I was only able to get fbdev to work if I pass the vga kernel parameter...without it, the modes were not detected properly and I could not get X to work? I always thought that fbdev works in conjuction with the kernel framebuffer...these things can get really confusing! > You may also consider to tell us which graphics card you are using, so > that we could propose alternative solutions. I have an HP xh575 notebook: trident CyberBladeXP and 1400x1050 LCD....the driver does not work on my machine (and others who have the same machine as mine)...I've already taken that route with no luck :(... I tried the fbdev and vesa drivers....vesa driver has a bug in it that does not allow non su users to startx....fbdev is the only one that I can get working well, but without 1400x1050 mode. thanks, Saul. _______________________________________________ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
