This is why I didn't upgrade to either RH7.2 or XFree86 4.1.

Don't hold your breath. I'm pretty much a novice. I got my ethernet and X working and
found a band-aid solution to the keyboard repeats. I can function with this so that's
as far as I've got. I compiled the alsa sound stuff but couldn't get any results. In
terms of WiFi,IR or USB I don't have any devices to test with although they appear to
be recognised OK by the system.

I also have this really annoying problem with the screen dimming (ie. backlight turns
off) when the battery is down to 50% power.

My two wishlist items at the moment are: 1) Screen not dimming when battery is at 50%
and 2) Fully functioning sound.

On the positive side apm and suspend works really well. I just close the lid and the
system goes into suspend mode and then comes up when I open the lid again. I've seen
references on the apmd list from people (well at least one guy :) ) having lots of
trouble with IBM T series notebooks in this area.

It's such a relief to find someone else using the same machine. You are the only
person I've met who has this machine. When I was setting up my machine I received no
indication that there was anyone else using it (ie. web searches produced nothing and
no-one ever replied to my posts).

Just out of interest. Is the keyboard repeat problem still evident in your current X
configuration ?

My understanding is that the XKB extensions include something called accessx which I
gather is for disabled access etc. ie. slowkeys, noisykeys that sort of thing. One of
the elements is apparently a bouncekeys setting which ignores second key presses that
occur within a specified time frame. Apparently bouncekeys is included with current
XKB extensions but the problem is in setting it. By default it is turned off. The only
way I could find of setting it permanently was using ax as previously specified. Have
you found accessx yet ?

.... hold on .... ahh here it is ... try:

        http://cmos-eng.rehab.uiuc.edu/accessx/

You can also look at xkbset (sorry I don't have the web link. But it appears similar
to accessx).
