what I see sometimes with xfstt on my thinkpad is that it sometimes
tends to suddenly consume 100% cpu doing something, everything in the
app (usually evolution rendering html mail, sometimes galeon) locks up,
then when xfstt calms dawn the app is responsive again.

and this is with gdkxftt for antialiasing.
