Just for the record, this is not always the case with vendor supplied
compiles of Xfree86.  I can't speak to this case (Steve's reply shows
he is using redhat), but at least suse 7.3 uses /etc/X11/XF86Config
for 4.x and I think /etc/XF86Config (or something in /etc rather than
in /etc/X11) for 3.x.  I haven't yet seen 8.0, but I'd presume they
left those locations as they were in 7.3.
