None of that makes any sense whatsoever. Doesn't seem like you
understand the differences between XFree86 3.3.6 and 4.x as far
as what I read above.

If the Cyrix drivers do not work at all, and nobody will fix
them, it shouldn't be hard for me to arrange complete removal of
the drivers if that is desired.

You have not looked to hard then. The source code is readily
available by both Red Hat, in the form of an src.rpm package, and
from XFree86.org as tarballs, as well as CVS.

As I have already stated in my previous email, Red Hat Linux 7.x
releases ship with *both* XFree86 3.3.6 X servers *and* the
XFree86 4.x server. You can choose which one you wish to use by
telling Xconfigurator one of either:

Xconfigurator --preferxf3

or

Xconfigurator --preferxf4

Please note that Red Hat did not write the Cyrix MediaGX driver,
and Red Hat does not maintain that driver. Reported bugs are
prioritized, and the bugs that affect the most number of people
are obviously the ones that I will personally look into fixing
first. Cyrix MediaGX, despite the number of units that might be
in use out there, is not a chip that I receive many bug reports
about at all, nor feedback about.

In general, people having problems with a video driver, should
contact the _author_ of that driver, or the current maintainer at
XFree86.org for the fastest possible solution, and should do so
in a polite non-attacking manner. While distributions like Red
Hat Linux and others ship drivers like the Cyrix driver, we rely
as much as anyone does for the upstream maintainers and the
community to fix bugs in drivers. We also contribute to fixing
bugs, but our contributions are focused as I said above, where it
makes the largest difference to the largest number of users, and
also where hardware is available.

I just recently got a Cyrix GX unit, however it is a tablet PC,
has no keyboard, and I do not have everything I need in order to
even begin looking into this issue. Also note that I'm doing
this on my own personal non-Red-Hat time, just for fun. The
earliest that I'll likely be experimenting with the driver is 2
months or more from now, so if someone else has the hardware,
specs, and cares enough to look into the issues, that would be
great.

However, since it is not a chipset that I receive 10 bug reports
a day on, I can't justify spending work time to look into it
anytime soon, and I'd just as soon remove support than receive 10
nasty bug reports a day.
