I just grabbed a copy of XFree86 4.2.0 and installed it, and afterwards when I tried running some OpenGL stuff at 1280x1024 I saw no sign of acceleration. So I took a look at /var/log/XFree86.0.log and saw this line:
(WW) TDFX(0): [dri] To use DRI, with a 16Mb Voodoo 3 or Banshee card, you must invoke the server using a maximum resolution of 1024x768 or lower. This confuses me greatly, as it had worked perfectly fine at that resolution with 4.1. Did something major change between the two versions? Or is there something I am overlooking? For reference, here is some random extra information: OS: Red Hat Linux 7.2 i386 (Kernel 2.4.18) Video card: 3dfx Voodoo3 3500 XFree86: 4.2.0 Any help on getting things working again in 3d accelerated mode would be greatly appreciated.
