4.2.0 works fine at 1280 x 1024 with my Voodoo 3 and games will run with no problems so far. Have you checked your server log to see if the tdfx.o kernel module has loaded? What does glxinfo say? Have you tried compiling the new kernel module that is hidden in the depths of the 4.2.0 source tree?
