"Already" ? X came at least 10, probably 15, years before VNC. Even Microsoft have realized that remote display is important, and finally some version of terminal server is now installed (but, rightly, not enabled) by default on Windows XP Pro systems. With rdesktop (www.rdesktop.org) I can now administer our secretary's Windows box from my Linux box without adding an software to her machine. -- Dr. Andrew C.
