If anything I overfenced it. I made sure that any register
write that relied on previous state being setup had fences before
and after it.
The only thing I didn't do was fence every color expansion
data write. That shouldn't be fatal though, just scrambled, but
I don't see any scrambling so your acending address idea may
be the reason.
