I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to build XFree86 4.2.1 from source
with direct rendering for my voodoo3. I have built many versions that did
indeed run, however none of them had direct rendering. I have checked the
startup log for X, and it does indeed load the TDFX driver, GLX, and DRI
modules and claims that direct rendering has been enabled, but glxinfo
tells me otherwise. I have glide3 installed on my machine (lib and
headers), and I even have /dev/3dfx, although I have read it is not needed
to DRI.
Long story short, does any one have any idea as to how I can build this
correctly.
