Okay. Done that. Not much wiser yet. Can you give any clues on how to test the Xvnc side of things? I Have done the following tests: 1. I have confirmed that as a starting point, the server has TightVNC running (but only because that is included out-of-the-box in this Distro.) and once an MSTSC or Rdesktop client connects (or at least once it has accepted the valid user credentials and issued the message that it can't connect!), Xvnc is running. 2. Run vncpasswd in the context of my test user. The file $HOME/.vnc/passwd has been created with a known password. 3. Connect to the server with a remote vnc viewer on port 5901, supply the password held in $HOME/.vnc/passwd and I get a KDE desktop. 4. However, connecting via an RDP client, I get the Connecting to 127.0.0.1 5910 error - problem connecting And a new file (because before this test I had deleted it) called $HOME/.vnc/sesman_$USERNAME_passwd? Who/how has created this file? What is the value of the password it contains? And if it was created automatically as part of the xrdp login process. Why does it not know the value of that password? 5. Leaving the session started by the failed connection in memory, I try connecting to port 5910 with a vnc viewer, I get a logon dialog box with only a password request field, but I do not know what that password could be!! I have tried some of the passwords for the users I have created - with no luck. I would have been surprised if it had of worked!
