I use pulseaudio with xrdp and ubuntu 14.04, works well for me. I did see on some, usually older pulseaudio installs, that the alsa to pulseaudio link was not working.
I use mplayer -ao alsa some_audio.mp3 and mplayer -ao pulse some_audio.mp3 to test both. If it's alsa that is not working, you can put asound.conf in /etc/ http://server1.xrdp.org/xrdp/release/v0.8/ubuntu14.04/pulse/x86/ Also, I can make prebuild pulseaudio x64 binaries, that I test, if you like. It looks like I just have x86 out there now.
