I have another question for those who have been stitching for a long time...
How has your stitching changed over the years?
For me, I changed a lot. When I first started stitching, I stitched whatever
my mother would bring home for me. Then when my children were young, I
stitched mostly for them. I lot of teddy bears were stitched in those years.
Now that they have grown up to become teenagers, I have the chance to stitch
more for myself and my friends. I have come to love samplers the most. I
have also started stitching all the large beautiful designs that I used to
dream about in the back of the magazines. Ten years ago, I dreamed of
stitching TW's The Castle and also Lanarte's Lady in Blue. These two pictures
just amazed me. Now I have both in my stash to do. I have also become very
interested in the history of stitching and historical samplers.
I have taken the time now to learn more techniques to keep my work neat. I
have also gone from working on aida to evenweave and linens. Another big
difference, is that I only owned DMC floss 10 years ago, but now I have a
closet full of cotton, silk, wool - solid and varigated flosses.
So, I guess you can say my stitching has changed in many ways over the years -
subject, techniques, and materials.
How about everyone else. Hopefully this thread will encourage the beginners
out there to continue working and learning. All forms of stitching are a form
of art and it's up to us to keep them going.
