Fuzzy Penguin in Sacramento is having their annual contest, so even though I
missed getting one of my creations on the wall this year, I had to go down and
vote. There are some lovely pieces up, including several which have been
adapted from published patterns. The most impressive one had Mermaid of the
Pearls and Waiting for Ships both stitched on the same piece of fabric.
Of course, it is impossible for me to go to any LNS without SEX. I "only"
spent $85. At least I don't have to justify it any more!
I picked up the chart and all the supplies for a House Mouse design (mice
napping in crocuses), two Black Christmas Plaid table runners, a mug to stitch
for my wonderful new boyfriend, and several charts, including "Russian Nights
Sampler" from Bestitched. I'm not sure I want to do the Russian alphabet on
the top, but I do intend to do the wonderfully colorful buildings on the
bottom. At SOXS a few years ago, in the Kreinik class, they passed around a
jewelry box made with metallic ribbon on plastic canvas, with some old Russian
buildings much like these, and that box was absolutely exquisite! I know that
I'm going to stitch the buildings with Kreinik, but haven't decided whether to
do it as a wall piece or a jewelry box.
While they last, Fuzzy is giving away a packet of free charts with a minimum
purchase. So if you're anywhere in Northern California/Nevada, it's worth the
trip to admire the customers' handiwork and pick up your free charts (appx.
two dozen designs)
HAPPY DANCE: I finished knitting Mom's birthday present this morning. I'm
making good headway with my Halloween banner from my UFO box, and when I'm
done computing will get back to crocheting an afghan that was supposed to be
for last Christmas (also from the UFO box that I resolved to empty this year).
So, I think I was entitled to some SEX as a reward for all that hard work, and
since I didn't go overboard with SEX today, I'm not adding too much more to my
pile than I'm taking out. (Not that I'm likely to finish everything I own in
this lifetime......)
