I've been on this list for a while, but I'll "re-introduce" myself. I'm 21,
live in North Carolina, and have been x-stitching for probably 10 years. My
mom started me on it when I was just a kid, but I put it down for years, for
lack of time. Even at age 12, though, I had a list of "to do" projects sky
high!! I picked it up again when I was 20. I went to Dallas, Texas for a few
months, and bought a kit of one of the houses in Old City Park. When I got
home, I did that kit, and have finished 5 projects since that time. Paula
Vaughan is my all-time absolute favorite designer. I have finished three of
her designs, and would love to do them all.
My stitching has changed even in the last year - I now much prefer
evenweaves to Aida, I now do somewhat complicated designs with shading and
1/4 stitches and French knots, I now know how to DO French knots!!, etc.
OK - now for the subject of this post. Does anyone have any suggestions for
where to get charts of Black Labs? (This is a breed of dogs, for you folks
who speak English as your second language. :-) ) I have a close friend who
had a Black Lab seeing eye dog for years, and thought that might be a neat
gift for him. It'd be best if the design doesn't have too much of a
background, since he is blind. I thought I could stitch it up for him, and
have it framed without glass of course, so he could feel the outline of the
stitches. His birthday is April 26. This would be a gift that would be
comparatively cheap in money :-) but still be something special. I was
thinking of either a dog profile, or a face, or something like that.
Even though this project shouldn't have much background right around the
dog, if you know of any nice Lab designs (black, chocolate, or yellow), I'd
like to know about them. (I haven't checked anywhere online yet, I'll do
that on Monday when I get back to work, but I thought I'd ask yall in the
meantime.) I plan to be spending lots of time decorating "our" house in a
few months - but don't get excited, he hasn't "asked" yet. :-)
