I had a project like this - I liked it when I started and by the time I was
done, I absolutely *hated* it. The directions were poor, I hated the fabric
it called for and I was sick of navy blue (it was a blackwork piece done in
navy...)

About the time I had finished stitching, and was wondering what to do, my
sister told me my nephew's school was having a silent auction fundraiser. I
decided to finish the thing as a tray (one of the small Sudberry trays). I
didn't lace like I do on other projects - I got some artist's tape and taped
the fabric to the cardboard. I shoved teh whole thing together and gave it
to my nephew as a donation. It brought $40, not a lot, but someone liked it
enough to buy it, I didn't have to look at it and I didn't have to feel
guilty every time I opened a drawer and saw it.

You might be able to do something similar with this piece - donate it to a
church auction, or even maybe to a nursing home for them to hang on their
wall. That way, it comes to some good end, but you don't have it hanging in
your house, reminding you how much you hate it!!
