So as the 'Getting Real' authors advise: get something small out quick, get feedback on the real thing not the specs, improve in iterations, etc. :)
Either approach is fine with me - really, for me it's up to the people who will actually be doing the work on the website. If Chad and the current maintainers want to hash things out over IRC, over email, or over the mailing list, that's fine with me. Different people work in different ways, I guess. I had just thought to put up the spec because that's how I thought we were supposed to do it, even though I haven't had fun experiences with them myself.* Of course for this to work someone _has_ to take ownership of the task. With
3-4 site admins but none taking full responsability progress is usually slower.
We have Chad who is taking responsibility for initially getting the new site up and running, but of course he could use help from the current admins. I'm mostly thinking of feedback about what their pain points were/are with the site. I've heard comments that we should have a means for more content updates on the front page. In the past someone said they had the current ubuntu drupal theme adapted
for xubuntu? Is that done?
TheSheep (Radomir?) had done a good amount of work getting things set up initially, but he had to bow out of future development efforts on it due to time constraints. We new have a base drupal 5.1 install up at http://vidd.us/~xubuntu. Chad does have the files that TheSheep was using, though. This is just my little update on it. :) Thanks, all.
