Yes, the file is there. Network-manager-gnome is up-to-date. For good
measure, I re-installed, to no avail.
Is the indicator plugin installed/working? Maybe that's the cause.
Another possible cause is with the sessions. Please check with the
settings manager.
BTW, replying to the list is sufficient.

What is the indicator plugin? I do see other icons on Panel 1. No
Network icon is available to add when I go to Panel > Properties > *Add
New Items.
Package xfce4-indicator-plugin. If it's installed, the icon of the
running nm-applet will appears there. Please check Settings Manager |
Panel | Items to see if it's already added.
I see nothing in Settings Manager that I can relate to this problem.
Check under Settings Manager | Session and Startup | Application
Autostart to see if nm-applet is enabled.
