Could it be a 64 bit problem? I am on 16.04 i386 and use both synaptic and apt-get with out problems. I've never tried 64 bit as I have a 'test' older machine which I use if I have trouble - so I am too lazy to burn a DVD for both. So many places I have read that there is little difference between the two so I've not bothered testing x64 out. james -- xubuntu-users mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/xubuntu-users
