Dear List, I am a little confused at the status of the file manager Thunar in Xubuntu 16.04. This release has a description of "Long Term Support", but as far as I can tell, the file manager has been crashing when renaming files for about a year now!?
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunar/+bug/1512120 The place where I went to find out the current status was xubuntu.org, which led me to the second link. https://xubuntu.org/news/xubuntu-16-04-1-release/ https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XenialXerus/FinalRelease/Xubuntu I'm kind of dumbfounded how this Long Term Support version was released with a file manager that cannot reliably rename a file? I experienced this behavior in April of this year myself and it is what made me go back to 14.04. Before you reply that I can always use another distribution, please know that is what I intend to do. I do WANT to stick with xubuntu because, now that they have included a proper office suite, it is the easiest and snappiest-performing distribution for my somewhat-older hardware. Am I that much of a freak that I'm the only person who can't work with a broken file browser on my desktop? There seems to be no other discussions about what a pain this is. MY QUESTION: Instead of many people telling many people to try different solution, couldn't a working solution be including in the LONG TERM SUPPORT version that works? FYI. If you are experiencing a similar frustration it seems that the distro Linux Mint is almost as efficient with resources and has a working file browser. -- http://kimbriggs.com -- xubuntu-users mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/xubuntu-users
