Suspend and Hibernate may be related to ACPI and power management hardware
functions that don't exist on an old PPC box. This again comes down to
running it on an odd architecture/platform.

While I love running Linux on random hardware*, not everything will work or
be supported like it is on a beige box with an amd64 processor inside.

*I ran RedHat on SPARC many years ago, and more recently Debian on PPC (12"
PowerBook). I currently have a 32-bit EFI MacBook Pro and a Raspberry Pi in
the house. Both run Ubuntu flavors right now.
