vbox generally fares worse on some benchmarks than KVM. Example: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=epyc-kvm-virtualbox&num=1 The difference might be noticeable or not depending on your workload. And, yes, of course a SSD makes things massively better for any VM.
